Travelling to Hamilton

I simply love travelling to Hamilton. One of the most
memorable holidays I have. It took 1 hour to get there by car
from Auckland. My mum and my family were doing the
catering. We had to stay up all night to do the food. Once me
and my family got there I was wondering “What were we
doing here?” My mother responded, “We are at a 21st
birthday”. I was running as fast as I could to the hall while
holding a cake. Previously I got scared because there were
a lot of people that I did not know. My auntie told me to sit
down and rest. There were balloons on the table but on
the strings there were photos of the person who was 21.

It was time to have a big feast but first we had to pray. There
was some really yummy food. I was only happy to eat
dessert. Out of all the cakes I loved the Tongan recipe
(Pineapple pie). It felt like I ate like 10 pieces of Pineapple
pie. My cousin ate mostly ice cream because he loves
ice cream. After eating there were some people who would
like to say something to the man who was 21. Then his
parents were holding his 21st key and saying things
in Tongan. It was time to go home. Me, my family and
other people were cleaning up. Me and my family had
to pack the food back in the car. While me and my Mum
were going past a mountain my Mum said “That's the
mountain where the Maori Queen got buried”.
She got buried at the top of the mountain called
Taupiri Mountain. As we were passing the mountain,
there were farms. I was happy to see the
horses and some sheep.

When we arrived at home I wanted some more ice
cream and cake. I went and had a nice beautiful
shower then ate more ice cream with cake.

Info about my mother

I look up to my Mum, she was always there for me. Whenever
I’m hungry she always feeds me.
When I’m sad she will be there to comfort me.
Her name is Joyce Sinifa Prescott.

In September 12th 1978, Joyce was born in Vaiola Tonga.
She has seven siblings. Their names are Villiami, Hengi Hengi,
Leatuu I Pangi, Taliauli, Luceane, Samiu Deakin, and Nokileti.
She loves them with all her heart. My grandmother’s name was
Alaisiunga Namomo Prescott. I have never heard or seen my
grandfather in my life. After my mother graduated from St
Andrews College in Tonga she came to New Zealand. In
June 1998, she gave birth to my oldest sister. In the early
2000’s my second sister was born. She left to go to America
when she was three years old. In 2008 my mother gave birth
to me. During the time when my siblings and I were growing
up my mother has been working with a friend of hers. Then in
2015 she was a cleaner in the North Shore. In early 2016 she
owned a restaurant called Pacific Ocean Takeaway, at the
Northcote Shopping Centre. My mother has been there for
nearly 3 years.

I admire my mother for working really hard during her life.
She would never quit her job because she loves being a chef.
She is my unsung hero. I hope one day I aspire to be just like
my mother.
